We do a lot of programs for our seniors, but the Adopt A Grandparent Holiday Program is a favorite!
We take them back to their younger years, where they create a Wish List for Santa filled with items they need or would like, but simply cannot afford. We then work with the community to fill those wish lists and make Christmas magic happen!
Holiday celebrations will be held this year at Walden Oaks and Highlight Healthcare in Woodstock. We look forward to bringing the holiday love and reminding these amazing Grandma's and Grandpa's that they are thought of!

Why we started the adopt a grandparent programs
To honor my parents.
In 2019 both my mother and father passed away suddenly just four months apart. Our family was struggling. My children and grandchildren had such a connection to their grandparents and now they were gone.
In 2020 we saw a local nursing home asking for donations of Christmas gifts for their senior residents because they had been so lonely and isolated through the Covid pandemic. They wanted to do something nice to cheer up their residents. Due to the Covid 19 pandemic we were not holding our annual event for local children and families in need, so our family decided to Adopt all of the Grandparents in that facility and we provided the gifts they were requesting, as a way to honor my parents.
That led us to research what programs were available for our local seniors who may not have a strong support system, and realizing there was a need the Adopt A Grandparent Programs were created.
My parents are no longer with us, but through these programs my family has found a way to honor their memory by helping others.
We welcome you to join us as we share kindness and love with our local seniors who may need it the most - and remind them that they are not alone or forgotten!
The Adopt A Grandparent programs work with low income seniors and senior veterans residing in senior living facilities, nursing homes and memory care facilities.
WE RUN ON 100% VOLUNTEER POWER!
Our Mission
Fisher Outreach Group, Inc. is organized and operated exclusively for charitable purposes and runs on 100% volunteer power. This means that no one is paid for their participation in our programs and 100% of the monies or items donation are used for our programs.
More specifically, the Corporation is organized to provide assistance to local families in need, seniors, the homeless, veterans and military families, schools, teachers and other non profit organizations by providing food, clothing, household necessities, school supplies, furnishings, books, programs for families and senior citizens in need and links to important local resources.
We understand what it's like to need help from others. It is because of the blessings we have received from others that we are now able to make a difference to those in need.

Our Founder has worked professionally and as a
volunteer fundraiser for more than 30 years and has touched thousands of lives.
That passion to give back to the community and help those in need is the magic behind Fisher Outreach Group, Inc.
We are a unique non-profit organization that runs on 100% volunteer power, (which means no one earns a salary or financial compensation for running our group), and we offer a wide variety of programs and services in McHenry County, Illinois.

Mr. Jim is an Air Force Veteran, Stage 4 Cancer Survivor, father and a very sweet man!

What a terrific way to kick off the Adopt A Grandparent Garden Program!
This program is an opportunity to help our seniors access fresh food, which many of them are struggling to afford.
No one should have to choose between fresh food and toilet paper or other everyday necessities.
In addition many of our seniors are unable to get to local food pantry's because they either don't drive or don't have a car.
Our programs brings the Farmers Market right to them at their low income, independent living facilities so they can get what they need for FREE!

Imagine not being able to afford to buy, or not having easy access to fresh fruits and vegetables.
Imagine being in a nursing facility, with little to no family support, and not being able to access little things, like snacks, comfort foods, fresh baked good and fruit. These are real issues for many of our seniors.
Our programs have a direct impact on the seniors and veterans we reach and really do help improve their mental health and well-being. Just knowing that someone cares and is going out of their way to do something kind for them, makes a real difference.
This program provides:
· Custom made container gardens for our seniors to nurture and care for.
· Vegetable plants for outdoor garden areas at our participating low income living facilities and nursing homes.
· A community garden project that grows fresh vegetables, fruits, herbs and flowers, that are distributed (along with donations from the community) to our participating seniors.
· FREE Farmer’s Markets that are held in their low-income living facility/nursing home.
With your continued support, we will brighten the lives of our participating seniors/veterans and remind them they matter.
