WE RUN ON 100% VOLUNTEER POWER!
In 2019 both my mother and father passed away suddenly just four months apart. Our family was struggling. My children and grandchildren had such a connection to their grandparents and now they were gone.
In 2020 we saw a local nursing home asking for donations of Christmas gifts for their senior residents because they had been so lonely and isolated through the Covid pandemic. They wanted to do something nice to cheer up their residents. Due to the Covid 19 pandemic we were not holding our annual event for local children and families in need, so our family decided to adopt all of the Grandparents in that facility and we provided the gifts they were requesting, as a way to honor my parents.
That lead to a lot of research about what programs were available for our local seniors who may not have a strong support system and that lead to the Adopt A Grandparent programs.
My parents are no longer with us, but through these program my family and I have found a way to honor their memory by helping others.
We welcome you to join us as we share kindness and love with our local seniors who may need it the most - and remind them that they are not alone or forgotten!
The Adopt A Grandparent programs work with low income seniors and senior veterans residing in senior living facilities, nursing homes, memory care facilities and accepts referrals from McHenry County Senior Services.
